Replacement PCB for the gifted keyboards

A reverse engineered PCB for the keyboard that Sentry gave as holiday gift in 2024.

- Per key RGB LEDs - Rotary encoder with switch - USB host interface connection through picoblade connector. - Programmable keymap with QMK

The firmware directory of this repostiory contains only the files specific to this keyboards firmware, and does not include all of QMK. To build firmware you need to have a copy of QMK (lets assume it is at ~/code/qmk):

Sentry keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Sentry keyboard use?

The Sentry keyboard is built around the ATmega32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Sentry keyboard PCB?

The Sentry keyboard measures 315 × 121 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Sentry keyboard?

265 components, from 97 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Sentry keyboard design files?

From the markstory/sentry-keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Sentry keyboard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which markstory chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Sentry keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
