About the Signal-Bord PCB

Signal-Bord is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by martinfantini, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 133 × 91 mm, with 26 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

The board is designed with the Arduino Nano as a prototype. And the final design with Atmega328p which is the same in Arduino Nano Board. The signals, which I use have 4 aspects, which are defined in the next enumeration outputs:

and the DCC information, it takes from the pins:

As arduino offers, it is programed in C++. For the case od the DCC protocol, I it is used PADA (Port Accessory Decoder Address) configuration. Which means the next default configuration will be the one which makes the signals on:

Signal-Bord: common questions

What microcontroller does the Signal-Bord use?

The Signal-Bord is built around the ATmega328-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Signal-Bord PCB?

The Signal-Bord measures 133 × 91 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Signal-Bord?

26 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Signal-Bord design files?

From the martinfantini/ModelTrains repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Signal-Bord design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with martinfantini. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Signal-Bord without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
