About the Ginger PCB

Ginger is an open source STM32 PCB design by matrixsmaster, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 142 × 119 mm, with 108 components from 30 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F746BGTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MICROSD, FT232RL and LM2937-3.3. By type, the board carries 42 capacitors, 21 switches, 21 resistors, 8 diodes, 6 connectors and 5 ICs.

From the project

DOSCARD is a DOS-in-a-box. This project contains two major parts: heavily modified DosBox fork as a software library, which can be embedded into any GUI or CLI application; and a set of embedded system projects which can run on MCUs.

Ginger: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ginger use?

The Ginger is built around the STM32F746BGTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Ginger PCB?

The Ginger measures 142 × 119 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ginger?

108 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ginger design files?

From the matrixsmaster/doscard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ginger design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which matrixsmaster chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ginger without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
