About the Ginger2 PCB

Ginger2 is an open source STM32 PCB design by matrixsmaster, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 69.5 × 57 mm, with 60 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F767IIT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MT48LC16M16A2, WF24HTLAJDNN0, LM3671MF-FIX and LP2985LV. By type, the board carries 24 capacitors, 15 resistors, 5 ICs, 5 connectors, 5 switches and 3 diodes.

From the project

DOSCARD is a DOS-in-a-box. This project contains two major parts: heavily modified DosBox fork as a software library, which can be embedded into any GUI or CLI application; and a set of embedded system projects which can run on MCUs.

Ginger2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ginger2 use?

The Ginger2 is built around the STM32F767IIT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Ginger2 PCB?

The Ginger2 measures 69.5 × 57 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ginger2?

60 components, from 34 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ginger2 design files?

From the matrixsmaster/doscard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ginger2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which matrixsmaster chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ginger2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
