About the TSAL-DRV PCB

TSAL-DRV is an open source PCB design by michaelruppe, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42.6 × 42.5 mm, with 26 components from 18 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the NE555, AMS1117-5.0 and 74LVC1G17. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 7 resistors, 4 diodes, 3 ICs, 3 transistors and 2 connectors.

The Tractive System Active Light is a red/green indicator light that indicates the presence of high-voltage in the Tractive System. The following design for a TSAL driver is split across two modules. The High-Voltage Measurement module (HVM) and the Indicator Module (DRV). The HVM connects to the output of the AIRs, and is located in the accumulator housing. The HVM is responsible for detecting whether Tractive System voltage is above or below the safe threshold.
