Its main chip is the TEENSY_4.1_MAIN_HEADERS_PJRC_AUDITED, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the MCP2562FD_CAN_A_3V3_IO, MCP2562FD_CAN_B_3V3_IO, TLIN1029DRQ1_LIN_3V3_LOGIC, LM2596S-5.0_BUCK and MCP2518FD_A_SOIC14. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 8 diodes, 7 ICs, 7 resistors, 2 crystals and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source Dual CAN FD and LIN shield for Teensy 4.1

OBDee-Wan CANobi is a Teensy 4.1 based vehicle-network tool for hackers, makers, reverse engineers, EV converters, and curious learners who want hardware they can inspect and understand.

It is designed as a practical bridge between a laptop and a vehicle or bench module: powerful enough for real CAN FD/LIN/K-line experiments, but documented as a teaching project rather than a black box.

Obdee wan canobi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Obdee wan canobi use?

The Obdee wan canobi is built around the TEENSY_4.1_MAIN_HEADERS_PJRC_AUDITED, from the NXP family.

How big is the Obdee wan canobi PCB?

The Obdee wan canobi measures 230 × 115 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Obdee wan canobi?

44 components, from 43 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Obdee wan canobi design files?

From the monstro-das-bolachas/obdee-wan-canobi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Obdee wan canobi design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which monstro-das-bolachas chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Obdee wan canobi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
