About the PicoSCSI PCB

PicoSCSI is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by Mr-Bossman, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 90 mm, with 14 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 3 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 jumpers and 1 module.

From the project

A SD to Parallel SCSI hard drive emulator

The board design is lossely based on the BlueSCSI V1 and the ZuluSCSI Pico. The RP2350 the MCU on the Raspberry PI Pico 2 is 5V tollerant meaning no level translation logic is nessasary. Like BlueSCSI this outputs 3.3V to the bus, which is compliant with LV SCSI.

Coming soon will be based on ZuluSCSI firmware

PicoSCSI: common questions

What microcontroller does the PicoSCSI use?

The PicoSCSI is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico_W, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the PicoSCSI PCB?

The PicoSCSI measures 100 × 90 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PicoSCSI?

14 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PicoSCSI design files?

From the Mr-Bossman/picoSCSI repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PicoSCSI design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Mr-Bossman. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PicoSCSI without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
