About the ProtoBoard PCB
ProtoBoard is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by mrieker, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 276.9 × 188 mm, with 372 components from 10 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Raspberry_Pi_2_3, from the Raspberry Pi family. By type, the board carries 173 diodes, 98 resistors, 48 transistors, 45 connectors and 8 capacitors.
From the project
HODE 16-BIT TRANSISTOR COMPUTER (schematics, PCB layouts, simulator, compiler)
Website: https://www.outerworldapps.com/hode
Uses a RaspberryPi for memory and IO (not needed for simulator). Requires a Linux computer (x86 or raspi) to build software. KiCad used to do PCB layouts. Must have GNU C++ compiler, Java 8 or better dev kit.
crtl - C runtime library and example programs # make asm, cc, driver first $ cd library $ make $ cd .. $ make $ ./runit.sh circus.hex < test01.circ ## runs in simlator (x86 or arm, no hode hardware required) $ ./runhw.sh circus.hex < test01.circ ## runs on hode hardware that this raspi is plugged into

ProtoBoard: common questions
What microcontroller does the ProtoBoard use?
The ProtoBoard is built around the Raspberry_Pi_2_3, from the Raspberry Pi family.
How big is the ProtoBoard PCB?
The ProtoBoard measures 276.9 × 188 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the ProtoBoard?
372 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the ProtoBoard design files?
From the mrieker/hode repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the ProtoBoard design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mrieker. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the ProtoBoard without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
