Other key parts include the LM2679SD-5.0/NOPB. By type, the board carries 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 2 LEDs, 1 IC, 1 diode and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the power & battery and robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

12V to 5V buck converter using LM2679, designed in KiCad 9. This was made for my MTE380 Course Project, to specifically fit my robot, but the physical board can be altered to fit other designs.

A custom KiCad-designed buck (step-down) converter PCB that regulates an 11.4V–12V LiPo battery input down to a stable 5V/5A output. Designed to power a Raspberry Pi 5 and control electronics on an autonomous line-following search-and-rescue robot, consolidating the robot's entire power system into a single battery source.

Built for MTE 380: Mechatronics Engineering Design Workshop at the University of Waterloo (Group 12).
