About the Exohand Updated ECTE351 PCB

Exohand Updated ECTE351 is an open source NXP PCB design by muhammadmapkar, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 67.5 × 66 mm, with 26 components from 10 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the WEMOS_C3_mini. By type, the board carries 6 connectors, 2 ICs and 1 switch.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

EMG-controlled assistive robotic hand. Built for ECTE351 by Team Orvyn (Group 19).

ExoHand reads surface EMG (sEMG) from the forearm, classifies the muscle activity into a hand gesture, and drives four servo-actuated fingers to match. The current system recognizes rest, fist, and individual-finger gestures (pinky&ring, middle, index, thumb), running the trained classifier directly on the microcontroller. VR integration is planned; not yet in this codebase. — see docs/architecture.md. Runs the trained classifier on-device (no PC needed for inference).

Exohand Updated ECTE351: common questions

What microcontroller does the Exohand Updated ECTE351 use?

The Exohand Updated ECTE351 is built around the Teensy4.0, from the NXP family.

How big is the Exohand Updated ECTE351 PCB?

The Exohand Updated ECTE351 measures 67.5 × 66 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Exohand Updated ECTE351?

26 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Exohand Updated ECTE351 design files?

From the muhammadmapkar/Exohand_Project repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Exohand Updated ECTE351 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with muhammadmapkar. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Exohand Updated ECTE351 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
