About the Depth sensor PCB

Depth sensor is an open source PCB design by nekrutnikolai, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 38 × 10 mm, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 3 capacitors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Home of everything relating to the depth sensor project for my M.Eng.

Breakout board carrying the three DRV5055A3 Hall effect sensors, described in §6.2.1 and shown in Fig. 13 of the report. It enforces the 12 mm sensor pitch set by the magnet length and simplifies wiring to the Pico. The 0.01 µF decoupling capacitors are per the DRV5055 datasheet.

production/ holds the fabrication outputs (BOM, positions, designators, IPC netlist); gerbers/ holds the plot files, drill files, job manifest, and the zipped set for upload to a fab house.

Depth sensor: common questions

How big is the Depth sensor PCB?

The Depth sensor measures 38 × 10 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Depth sensor?

7 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Depth sensor design files?

From the nekrutnikolai/depth_sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Depth sensor design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which nekrutnikolai chose for the repository.
