About the Tinyfan PCB

Tinyfan is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by neoden, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 26.5 × 18 mm, with 10 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATTINY85-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 3 resistors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Temperature-controlled PSU fan driver: ATtiny85 + NTC, 4-pin PWM fan, KiCad 10

Temperature-controlled fan driver for a PC power supply. An ATtiny85 reads an NTC thermistor and drives a standard 4-pin PWM fan from the PSU's own +5 V and +12 V rails. Two-layer 26.55 × 18.05 mm board, all SMD parts on the top side, designed in KiCad 10.

firmware/tinyfan/tinyfan.ino is an Arduino sketch for ATTinyCore, built with arduino-cli (no IDE needed):

Tinyfan: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tinyfan use?

The Tinyfan is built around the ATTINY85-20SU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Tinyfan PCB?

The Tinyfan measures 26.5 × 18 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tinyfan?

10 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tinyfan design files?

From the neoden/tinyfan repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tinyfan design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with neoden. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Tinyfan without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
