About the SP02 Water Sensor PCB

SP02 Water Sensor is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by patelmikin14, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 73 × 50 mm, with 14 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX30102 and SSD1306. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 switches, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs, 1 module and 1 diode.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

The first thing I did was get comfortable with the environment understanding the pre-installed component libraries, how symbols and power symbols work, and what a well-structured schematic actually looks like before touching the software. I reviewed the full circuit on paper firs

The first thing I did was get comfortable with the environment understanding the pre-installed component libraries, how symbols and power symbols work, and what a well-structured schematic actually looks like before touching the software. I reviewed the full circuit on paper first, mapped out all the requirements, and then rebuilt it from scratch in KiCad. Every connection, every component value, every net placed and verified manually. That foundation set the tone for everything that followed.

SP02 Water Sensor: common questions

What microcontroller does the SP02 Water Sensor use?

The SP02 Water Sensor is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the SP02 Water Sensor PCB?

The SP02 Water Sensor measures 73 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the SP02 Water Sensor?

14 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SP02 Water Sensor design files?

From the patelmikin14/SP02_Water_Sensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SP02 Water Sensor design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which patelmikin14 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the SP02 Water Sensor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
