About the Rosaline PCB

Rosaline is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by peej, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 285.4 × 94.9 mm, with 137 components from 75 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 53 diodes, 8 resistors, 5 capacitors, 3 connectors, 2 switches and 2 LEDs.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

40% staggered through-hole component keyboard PCB for standard 60% cases

Rosaline is a 40% keyboard PCB using through-hole components for that visible component aesthetic.

The goal of this project is to build an all through-hole component 40% PCB that fits in a standard 60% tray mount case.

Designed to be easy to build with minimal soldering experience. All through-hole components, no SMD soldering required. Get that visible component aesthetic in a standard 60% tray-mount case. Staggered and ortholinear varieties. * Supports both USB Mini and USB-C.

Rosaline: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rosaline use?

The Rosaline is built around the ATMEGA328-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Rosaline PCB?

The Rosaline measures 285.4 × 94.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rosaline?

137 components, from 75 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rosaline design files?

From the peej/rosaline-keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rosaline design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which peej chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Rosaline without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
