About the FreeMacro PCB

FreeMacro is an open source PCB design by pentodeman, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 92 mm, with 119 components from 25 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the CD74HC4067M and Sparkfun_Pro_Micro. By type, the board carries 66 resistors, 16 transistors, 16 switches, 16 diodes, 3 ICs and 2 capacitors.

From the project

A simple macro keypad that invokes key combinations, prints strings of text, and types special characters.

Special thanks to Arduino LLC for providing the Keyboard library that was used to create this project. The library is available under: https://github.com/arduino-libraries/Keyboard

It is not recommended to add genConfig to any binary directories (/bin, /sbin, /usr/bin, /usr/sbin, etc...) as the program outputs the file to its current working directory. genConfig will look for the file called banks.layout in its current working directory and will output config.h * To generate a new config simply run:

FreeMacro: common questions

How big is the FreeMacro PCB?

The FreeMacro measures 100 × 92 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FreeMacro?

119 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FreeMacro design files?

From the pentodeman/freeMacro repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FreeMacro design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which pentodeman chose for the repository.
