GlideRC

About the GlideRC PCB

GlideRC is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Person-0, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico_2, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 2 resistors, 1 module and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the sensors and robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Transforming a 2$ hand-thrown foam glider into an RC Airplane.

Since there is no PCB (these are all components wired/soldered together), there are no PCB files. However, you can still open the schematics in KiCAD, by: - Opening KiCAD - Clicking File (top left) >> Open Project - Navigating to the the repository's saved destination, - Opening /schematics directory - Selecting the file test.kicadpro`

This will open the schematics in KiCAD for easier viewing!

GlideRC: common questions

What microcontroller does the GlideRC use?

The GlideRC is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico_2, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the GlideRC PCB?

The GlideRC has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the GlideRC?

7 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the GlideRC design files?

From the Person-0/GlideRC repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the GlideRC design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which Person-0 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the GlideRC without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
