About the Scot resolver PCB

Scot resolver is an open source STM32 PCB design by philcrump, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 108.6 × 79.4 mm, with 137 components from 65 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F0xxKxTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AD8692ARMZ, AD8397ARZ, TSR1, MCP2562 and AD2S1210. By type, the board carries 62 capacitors, 34 resistors, 14 ICs, 9 connectors, 7 inductors and 6 diodes.

C25 has 0603 pad, C27 & C28 have 1210 pads, all should be 0805 to match the part. C26 has 1210 pad, should be 1206. Not disastrous, part still fits, with careful placement on 1210 to ensure direct contact with the pads. Input Voltage rating is 22-32V, not 19-36V as printed on the PCB (limited by U6-LM317 dropout and thermal). Optional Ripple Rejection Capacitor should be fitted across R22 (LM317 regulator)…

Scot resolver: common questions

What microcontroller does the Scot resolver use?

The Scot resolver is built around the STM32F0xxKxTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Scot resolver PCB?

The Scot resolver measures 108.6 × 79.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Scot resolver?

137 components, from 65 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Scot resolver design files?

From the philcrump/scot-resolver repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Scot resolver design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which philcrump chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Scot resolver without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
