About the Repeater v2 PCB

Repeater v2 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by plusvic, published on GitHub under the CC0-1.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30.7 × 76.1 mm, with 16 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 connectors, 2 diodes, 1 IC and 1 transistor.

From the project

General description of the Simplebus2 protocol used by some Comelit's intercoms. Hardware for retransmitting Simplebus2 messages over UART.

A recent version of the nightly Rust compiler. Anything including or greater than rustc 1.63.0-nightly (fee3a459d 2022-06-05) can be used. The rust-src rustup component - $ rustup component add rust-src AVR-GCC on the system for linking AVR-Libc on the system for support libraries * minipro (https://gitlab.com/DavidGriffith/minipro)

This project must be built with a nightly version of rustc because we must use the -Z build-std=core in order to build the core standard library.

Repeater v2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Repeater v2 use?

The Repeater v2 is built around the ATtiny85-20P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Repeater v2 PCB?

The Repeater v2 measures 30.7 × 76.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Repeater v2?

16 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Repeater v2 design files?

From the plusvic/simplebus2-intercom repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Repeater v2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC0-1.0 license, which plusvic chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Repeater v2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
