About the Core PCB

Core is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by PolygonHJ, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 23 × 33 mm, with 29 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-NRF54L15, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the BQ25173DSGR, BQ25570RGRR and 74AXP1T34GWH. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 4 ICs, 4 resistors, 2 connectors and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless, power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Xihe is a self-sustaining, ultra-low-power sensing platform designed for long-lifetime deployments with zero maintenance.

The system is designed to be as small and unobtrusive as possible, enabling it to be placed in an environment, monitor passively, and be forgotten—both visually and in terms of maintenance.

Example sensing applications: - Light - Temperature - Humidity - Moisture - Open/Close (e.g. reed switch)

Core: common questions

What microcontroller does the Core use?

The Core is built around the XIAO-NRF54L15, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Core PCB?

The Core measures 23 × 33 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.

How many components are on the Core?

29 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Core design files?

From the PolygonHJ/xihe repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Core design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which PolygonHJ chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Core without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
