About the TOTEM PCB

TOTEM is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by GEIGEIGEIST, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 258.8 × 94.4 mm, with 85 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the xiao-ble, from the Nordic nRF family. By type, the board carries 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards, iot & wireless and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

TOTEM is a 38 keys column-staggered split keyboard. It meant to be used with a SEEED XIAO BLE or RP2040

- download the ZIP file - upload the ZIP file to the website of the manufacturer. - sometimes the Gerber preview from JLCPCB can't display the PCB, even when the files are fine. In this case use these dimensions: 258.7mm * 94.35mm - PCB Thickness 1.6mm - 2 layers - PCB Qty as much as you like. One PCB is a full keyboard. - PCB Color Black (or any other color you like) - No impedance control - Surface Finish HASL(with lead) if you want the easiest soldering experience or LeadFree HASL. - Remove Order Number Yes

TOTEM: common questions

What microcontroller does the TOTEM use?

The TOTEM is built around the xiao-ble, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the TOTEM PCB?

The TOTEM measures 258.8 × 94.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the TOTEM?

85 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the TOTEM design files?

From the GEIGEIGEIST/TOTEM repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the TOTEM design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-P-2.0 license, which GEIGEIGEIST chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the TOTEM without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
