About the TestRig PCB

TestRig is an open source STM32 PCB design by RasmusB, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 164 × 73 mm, with 85 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32_BLUE_PILL, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TCA6424A and TS5A3357. By type, the board carries 25 resistors, 21 test points, 12 LEDs, 11 capacitors, 8 ICs and 5 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

An Psion to USB keyboard controller

An ATmega32u4 based keyboard controller. This was designed for use with a Psion Series 5mx keyboard, but should work for other keyboards also.

PCB contains KiCad files for the device itself Firmware/Psion-Keyboard-Firmware contains an Arduino sketch for the firmware * Firmware/ScanTheMatrix is a sketch for scanning the matrix of a keyboard. This is only meant as a tool to map a keyboard with an unknown pinout.

TestRig: common questions

What microcontroller does the TestRig use?

The TestRig is built around the STM32_BLUE_PILL, from the STM32 family.

How big is the TestRig PCB?

The TestRig measures 164 × 73 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the TestRig?

85 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the TestRig design files?

From the RasmusB/USB-Keyboard-Adapter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the TestRig design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with RasmusB. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the TestRig without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
