About the Injection controller PCB

Injection controller is an open source NXP PCB design by refault-artifacts, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61 × 40 mm, with 14 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TEENSY41, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the TLV73311PQDBVRQ1. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 3 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

From the project

Hardware design files and firmware of the injection controller used in REFault: A Fault Injection Platform for Rowhammer Research on DDR5 Memory.

For convenience, you can also find a PDF version of the schematic in docs/schematic.pdf. A bill of materials (BOM) is also provided in docs.

- Ethernet: RJ45 Jack connected to the Ethernet header pins of the Teensy. - Pluggable Teensy: The Teensy microcontroller board is meant to be attached to the PCB by using headers, allowing for easy replacement and swapping of microcontroller. - Status LED: One power LED and one user controllable LED on the board. - Flat flex connector: By using a suitable flat flex cable, the controller can be easily connected to the DDR5 fault injector interposer.

Injection controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Injection controller use?

The Injection controller is built around the TEENSY41, from the NXP family.

How big is the Injection controller PCB?

The Injection controller measures 61 × 40 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Injection controller?

14 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Injection controller design files?

From the refault-artifacts/injection-controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Injection controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which refault-artifacts chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Injection controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
