About the Wasp pad PCB

Wasp pad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by resslr, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 43.2 × 62 mm, with 7 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 4 switches, 2 diodes and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Linux Macropad

I call my linux computer WaspBox, so I decided to make a complimentary macropad for my dev-workflow, however this is a learning process which I will document as I have never attempted to make a PCB board before. I will most likely make the buttons different keybinds to integrate in my AwesomeWM workflow and my text editor setup.

Wasp pad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wasp pad use?

The Wasp pad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Wasp pad PCB?

The Wasp pad measures 43.2 × 62 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wasp pad?

7 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wasp pad design files?

From the resslr/wasp-pad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wasp pad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which resslr chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wasp pad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
