About the FeatherLCCCAN PCB

FeatherLCCCAN is an open source ESP32 PCB design by RobertPHeller, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 96.5 × 22.9 mm, with 3 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the KEMET C0603C104M4RAC7411, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the Texas Instruments TCAN332DR. By type, the board carries 2 capacitors and 1 IC.

From the project

This is a Feather Wing for ESP32 Feathers that contain a CAN tranceiver and RJ45 connectors that allow connecting an ESP32 Feather to a LCC network. The CAN is set up to use pin 11 for CANTX and pin 12 for CANRX.

- firmware Simple node, without the display, 4Meg partition table, stores node DB on Flash under SPIFFS - firmware-display Complex node, with display, 8Meg partition table, stores node DB on uSD card (assumes Adafruit 3.5" TFT w/Touch Screen V2.0, which includes a uSD card slot). - DisplayCase FreeCAD code for a case for the version with display.

FeatherLCCCAN: common questions

What microcontroller does the FeatherLCCCAN use?

The FeatherLCCCAN is built around the KEMET C0603C104M4RAC7411, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the FeatherLCCCAN PCB?

The FeatherLCCCAN measures 96.5 × 22.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FeatherLCCCAN?

3 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FeatherLCCCAN design files?

From the RobertPHeller/FeatherLCCCAN repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FeatherLCCCAN design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which RobertPHeller chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the FeatherLCCCAN without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
