About the Micro-VX PCB

Micro-VX is an open source STM32 PCB design by RoboKamu, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 41.8 × 33 mm, with 37 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32L432KBU6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, C189624 and USBLC6-2SC6. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 9 resistors, 4 ICs, 4 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 switch.

It belongs with the audio and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

Mini Audio Wave and FFT Visualizer on Custom PCB based on STM32L4

The PCB is based on the original schematic for microphone. This works correctly with the Accelerometer project, however, not with the audio analyzer. For the latter, a resistor has to be desoldered and another added. This is mentioned in the microphone section in the schematic.

Below is an image showing the crude modification to the left, and the original PCBA to the right.

Micro-VX: common questions

What microcontroller does the Micro-VX use?

The Micro-VX is built around the STM32L432KBU6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Micro-VX PCB?

The Micro-VX measures 41.8 × 33 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Micro-VX?

37 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Micro-VX design files?

From the RoboKamu/Micro-VX repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Micro-VX design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with RoboKamu. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Micro-VX without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
