About the Hackpad PCB

Hackpad is an open source PCB design by Sacul518, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68 × 99.7 mm, with 21 components from 5 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO. By type, the board carries 10 switches, 9 diodes, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

9-key mechanical macropad with rotary encoder + OLED, built on a Seeed XIAO RP2040. Hack Club Hackpad YSWS.

A custom 9-key mechanical macropad with a rotary encoder and OLED display, built around the Seeed XIAO RP2040. Designed from scratch in KiCad as part of Hack Club's Hackpad YSWS.

I wanted a macropad that isn't just static keys but actually adapts to what I'm doing — so the rotary encoder browses through profiles (turn to preview on the OLED, click to confirm) and every one of the 9 keys is freely configurable through a desktop app, either as a key combo or a custom script.

Hackpad: common questions

How big is the Hackpad PCB?

The Hackpad measures 68 × 99.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad?

21 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad design files?

From the Sacul518/hackpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Sacul518 chose for the repository.
