About the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board

STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board is an open source STM32 PCB design by Sbaz-Khan, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 40 × 32.5 mm, with 28 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 5 resistors, 4 connectors, 2 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts and usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Two-layer STM32F103C8T6 development board designed in KiCad, covering schematic capture, PCB layout, USB, SWD, UART, I2C, power regulation, DRC, BOM, and manufacturing files.

A custom two-layer development board built around the STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller using KiCad.

This project was completed as a hands-on PCB design exercise based on Phil's Lab's STM32 PCB tutorial, with the goal of learning and practicing the complete workflow from schematic capture to PCB layout and manufacturing-file generation.

The completed board integrates power regulation, clock circuitry, USB, programming/debugging interfaces, serial communication interfaces, analog power filtering, and a two-layer PCB layout with a dedicated ground plane.

STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board use?

The STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board is built around the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board?

The STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board measures 40 × 32.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board?

28 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board design files?

From the Sbaz-Khan/STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Sbaz-Khan. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the STM32F103-Custom-Development-Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
