About the ALU Main PCB

ALU Main is an open source PCB design by Shmerlard, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 14 components from 5 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74LS181. By type, the board carries 10 connectors and 4 ICs.

a custom 16bit cpu

hi, my name is elad and Im an electrical engineering student in Ben gurion university. I designed a small 16bit cpu, with a mix of jdh8, src, msp430 and the Hack computer. this is still a work in progress, but so far it works.

I used logisim for the logic design, draw.io for the diagrams. in order to see the working cpu in logisim: you need to build version 3.9.0 from source here, then just open the .circ file.

ALU Main: common questions

How big is the ALU Main PCB?

The ALU Main measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ALU Main?

14 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ALU Main design files?

From the Shmerlard/SH8 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ALU Main design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Shmerlard. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
