a custom 16bit cpu

hi, my name is elad and Im an electrical engineering student in Ben gurion university. I designed a small 16bit cpu, with a mix of jdh8, src, msp430 and the Hack computer. this is still a work in progress, but so far it works.

I used logisim for the logic design, draw.io for the diagrams. in order to see the working cpu in logisim: you need to build version 3.9.0 from source here, then just open the .circ file.

ALU Extra: common questions

How big is the ALU Extra PCB?

The ALU Extra measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ALU Extra?

21 components, from 10 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ALU Extra design files?

From the Shmerlard/SH8 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ALU Extra design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Shmerlard. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
