About the Skayboard PCB

Skayboard is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Skaytacium, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 332 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 128 capacitors, 120 LEDs, 76 diodes, 3 resistors, 1 IC and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Skaytacium's Keyboard

I couldn't find a keyboard which had this exact layout (some suggested a 60% + numpad, do you think I'm sensible?). I also found the pre-existing PCBs too expensive and the open source ones had goofy layouts. I'm jobless, stupid and I regret everything.

- The sk keys are macro keys. - It uses QMK. - Uses SK6812 Mini-E LEDs, hand solder them if you want to, connection matrix here (because the name starts with SK). + The Skaytacium way to build one would be: - C3Equalz Tangerines, light green (52g) - 5mm acrylic plate - Stacked crylic and aluminum (layered) - It took me ~~2~~ 3 years to make…

Skayboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Skayboard use?

The Skayboard is built around the ATMEGA32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the Skayboard?

332 components, from 11 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Skayboard design files?

From the Skaytacium/Skayboard repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Skayboard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Skaytacium chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Skayboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
