Firmware for canbus boxes

A canbus box is a device that allows you to connect your Android device to a CAN bus

General canbus box features: - turns on power for android when the ignition is turned on - turns on the power for the rear view camera - toggle backlight for android - displaying the state of the car on the android screen(open doors, parking sensors, etc.)

Since the adapter supports several car models and protocols, the adapter must first be configured for a specific car. To configure, the adapter must be connected to the Rx and TX lines at 38400 speed using any terminal program (putty, hyperterminal…

Canbox: common questions

What microcontroller does the Canbox use?

The Canbox is built around the STM32F103C8Tx, from the STM32 family.

How many components are on the Canbox?

70 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Canbox design files?

From the smartgauges/canbox repository on GitHub, which has a netlist; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Canbox design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with smartgauges. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Canbox without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
