About the Audio board

Audio board is an open source NXP PCB design by stefvanson, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 77 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-5.0, PCM5102APWR, PCM1803ADBR, 6N138SDM and 24.576MHZ. By type, the board carries 30 capacitors, 17 connectors, 17 resistors, 6 ICs, 5 jumpers and 1 test point.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Audio interface board design (PCB) for recording and playing back audio, MIDI IO and some additional IO.

This project contains the design files for an audio interface board (PCB).

- File -> Plot: Select for Front and Bottom (F. and B.) the layers Cu, Mask, Paste and SilkS. Also select the Edge.Cuts layer. In that same window at bottom left click "Generate Drill Files..." and generate it.

1. In the schematics editor (Eeschema) click the generate BOM button. 2. Select bom2group_csv and click "Generate". 3. JLCPCB expects the following columns, so adapt the generate CSV file to have these columns (rename and reorder columns): - Comment (the "Value" column) - Designator (the "Reference" column) -…

Audio board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Audio board use?

The Audio board is built around the TEENSY4.0, from the NXP family.

How big is the Audio board?

The Audio board measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Audio board?

77 components, from 38 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Audio board design files?

From the stefvanson/audio-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Audio board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with stefvanson. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Audio board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
