About the Stockton stem badge PCB
Stockton stem badge is an open source PIC PCB design by stockton-stem, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50.8 × 50.8 mm, with 17 components from 15 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the PIC12LF1501, from the PIC family. By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 4 diodes, 2 connectors, 2 battery holders, 2 capacitors and 1 IC.
It belongs with the wearables designs in this gallery.
From the project
Stockton STEM collaborative badge
This project provides a simple electronic device that students of varying ability, with some supervision, should be able to assemble within about half an hour. The targeted materials cost of each badge is less than US$10.
The printed circuit board is made to resemble the Stockton STEM logo in the form of a badge with LEDs in place of the colored circles.
The device is sophisticated enough that more advanced students should then be able to modify its functions using the source code in this repository, the free version of the development software and an inexpensive device programming tool.

Stockton stem badge: common questions
What microcontroller does the Stockton stem badge use?
The Stockton stem badge is built around the PIC12LF1501, from the PIC family.
How big is the Stockton stem badge PCB?
The Stockton stem badge measures 50.8 × 50.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6002 mm thick.
How many components are on the Stockton stem badge?
17 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Stockton stem badge design files?
From the stockton-stem/stockton-stem-badge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Stockton stem badge design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which stockton-stem chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Stockton stem badge without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
