About the Stm8s001rs485 PCB

Stm8s001rs485 is an open source STM32 PCB design by TG9541, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 33.3 × 6.4 mm, with 20 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM8S001J3M, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the DS1621S, XC6206P332MR and SP3485CN. By type, the board carries 6 capacitors, 6 resistors, 4 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 diodes.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

A narrow KiCad made PCB with STM8S001J3, RS485 driver and DS1621S Thermometer, e.g., for STM8EF-MODBUS

This KiCad project provides a small PCB with an STM8S001J3M3, a RS485 interface and a DS1621S temperature sensor. Applications include MODBUS with STM8 eForth.

Here is a photo of an assembled board, together with the RS485-CH340E dongle:

The STM8S001J3M3 is a member of the "STM8S Low Density" family that's based on the "STM8S Access Line" cross-breed STM8S903, which, compared with the STM8S003, has some (undocumented) features.

Stm8s001rs485: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stm8s001rs485 use?

The Stm8s001rs485 is built around the STM8S001J3M, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Stm8s001rs485 PCB?

The Stm8s001rs485 measures 33.3 × 6.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stm8s001rs485?

20 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stm8s001rs485 design files?

From the TG9541/stm8s001rs485 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stm8s001rs485 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which TG9541 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Stm8s001rs485 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
