As a home brewer CO₂ is the gas of choice for most purposes, including pushing beverages to the tap. But sometimes you don't want to just serve beer but also cold brew coffee and other non-carbonated beverages. In most cases a simple N₂ cylinder does the job — but given that air is 78% nitrogen, why not just extract it from the air? Recently products like NitroBev 360 have introduced this possibility on a small scale, at a price. Given the huge margins these niche products have to have, my thought was to…

NitrogenGenerator: common questions

What microcontroller does the NitrogenGenerator use?

The NitrogenGenerator is built around the STM32G030F6Px, from the STM32 family.

How big is the NitrogenGenerator PCB?

The NitrogenGenerator measures 160 × 55 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the NitrogenGenerator?

29 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the NitrogenGenerator design files?

From the tinic/NitrogenGenerator repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the NitrogenGenerator design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the NitrogenGenerator without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
