About the Pcb

Pcb is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by trebb, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 17.9 × 3.6 mm, with 49 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA32U2, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MX-DI. By type, the board carries 16 ICs, 6 capacitors, 4 resistors, 2 connectors, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Firmware and hardware for a 15-key chorded computer keyboard

NaN-15 -- a 15-key chorded computer keyboard ============================================

The firmware is based on TMK; see ./firmware/.

In addition to its main (chorded) input mode, a few special layers are available:

- a number pad, - a set of navigation keys, - a mouse emulation layer, - a macro pad. (Macro recording is done in chorded mode.)

On these layers, keycodes are registered in the usual way, i.e. once a key is pressed.

Pcb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pcb use?

The Pcb is built around the ATMEGA32U2, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Pcb?

The Pcb measures 17.9 × 3.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pcb?

49 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pcb design files?

From the trebb/nan-15 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pcb design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which trebb chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pcb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
