About the Central ECU Board

Central ECU Board is an open source STM32 PCB design by UC-Aerospace, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 139 components from 69 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G0B1RCT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TCAN1046AVDYYRQ1, LM339BIPWR, TPS16630PWPR, AZ1117CH-5.0TRG1 and AZ1117CH-3.3TRG1. By type, the board carries 49 resistors, 38 capacitors, 16 connectors, 15 diodes, 7 ICs and 5 transistors.

The central ECU is pretty simple and carries out a couple of tasks. Firstly is comms which is easy to see with CAN on the left and RS422 on the right of the schematic. The SD card occupies the top right, with pull up resistors on the main data lines. The top right has a display over I2C and a pressure and temp sensor. On the status LED front the other boards had two controlled from GPIOs while the central ECU only has one. Two is much better as you can have a status and error LED, don't discount just how useful a few LEDs are. And finally the interesting bit is probably the spicy stuff.

Central ECU Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Central ECU Board use?

The Central ECU Board is built around the STM32G0B1RCT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Central ECU Board?

The Central ECU Board measures 100 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Central ECU Board?

139 components, from 69 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Central ECU Board design files?

From the UC-Aerospace/Hybrid25_ECU repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Central ECU Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with UC-Aerospace. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Central ECU Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
