About the MCopter PCB

MCopter is an open source STM32 PCB design by UnTraDe, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 54.9 × 61.9 mm, with 47 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F410RBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LF33ABDT-TR and ICM-20689. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 switches and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and sensors designs in this gallery, and the repository also holds 1 earlier revision of it.

From the project

Quadcopter from scratch

Currently there is a working PCB for the flight controller + basic firmware.

Simple PID flight stabilization Radio communication via external radio module (both controlling the copter and sending telemtry data to the controller * Simple remote controller made out of an old RC toy radio + arduino pro mini + nRF24

Designing custom frame and 3D print it Using an embedded radio solution (probably nRF24 based) * Using 9-axis fusion instead of 6-axis to avoid yaw drift.

MCopter: common questions

What microcontroller does the MCopter use?

The MCopter is built around the STM32F410RBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the MCopter PCB?

The MCopter measures 54.9 × 61.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MCopter?

47 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MCopter design files?

From the UnTraDe/MCopter repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MCopter design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with UnTraDe. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MCopter without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
