About the Display interface PCB

Display interface is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by vascofazza, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 96.5 × 55.3 mm, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 74HCT32, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 4 connectors, 1 IC and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Schematics & code for my 74LS-based 8-bit MK1 CPU

An ATmega328-driven LCD Display peripheral for the MK1 8-bit CPU.

LCD character display interface for the MK1 CPU computer.

Uses an ATmega328P as driver and implements Integer and Character output mode.

Commands and data are both transmitted on the external bus.

There are two external bus connectors for peripheral daisy chaining.

Display interface: common questions

What microcontroller does the Display interface use?

The Display interface is built around the 74HCT32, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Display interface PCB?

The Display interface measures 96.5 × 55.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Display interface?

7 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Display interface design files?

From the vascofazza/8bit-cpu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Display interface design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which vascofazza chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Display interface without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
