Custom Designed MCU design based upon Teensy 4.1

This repository covers the design of my custom take on the Teensy 4.1 from PJRC. Teensy 4.1 Site. I took inspiration from jenschrs design who incorporated usb-c rather than the intended USB-Micro, but lacked the SD slot, expandable RAM and flash memory, and PHY Ethernet IC and RJ45 Connection Like the original.

This Design, following the Teensy 4.1 official Schematic Features a 6 layer design with dedicated GND and 3.3V plane’s, and possesses the same RAM, Flash, Boot loader and MCU components as the original Teensy 4.1, but the 3.3V regulator was swapped for a NCP692 regulator providing…

What microcontroller does the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design use?

The Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design is built around the MIMXRT1062DVJ6B, from the NXP family.

How big is the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design?

The Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design measures 87.6 × 53.9 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1.511 mm thick.

How many components are on the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design?

85 components, from 47 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design design files?

From the Wierdwizard2587/Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Wierdwizard2587. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Custom-Teensy-4.1-PCB-Design without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
