About the Wiihdmi wmi PCB

Wiihdmi wmi is an open source FPGA PCB design by wmi-0, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 54.9 × 59.7 mm, with 23 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XC3S200A, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the M25P40, TPS740 and TSOP321xx. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 4 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 resistors and 1 switch.

From the project

HDMI for your Wii powered by GCVideo

This PCB is based on the popular GCVideo project as well as the Shuriken V3 schematics and features HDMI output (240p, 480i, 480p) for the Wii. Menu navigation is possible via IR-remote or Gamecube controller. One of the main goals for this project was to keep it as cheap as possible. This means no flex-cable for an easier install, no replacement of analog output (RGB/Component) and most importantly a 2-layer PCB design for cheap manufacturing.

Wiihdmi wmi: common questions

What microcontroller does the Wiihdmi wmi use?

The Wiihdmi wmi is built around the XC3S200A, from the FPGA family.

How big is the Wiihdmi wmi PCB?

The Wiihdmi wmi measures 54.9 × 59.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Wiihdmi wmi?

23 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Wiihdmi wmi design files?

From the wmi-0/wiihdmi repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Wiihdmi wmi design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which wmi-0 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Wiihdmi wmi without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
