About the Jcad PCB

Jcad is an open source STM32 PCB design by xoviat, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 50 × 50 mm, with 40 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 7 resistors, 6 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Components for processing libraries and generating outputs for JLCPCB.

JCAD is a program to generate manufacturing files for JLCPCB directly from a .kicadpcb` file. In contrast to other approaches, JCAD does not integrate with KiCad directly or require modification of schematic or PCB design files in order to generate outputs. Instead, JCAD relies on a consistent component naming scheme that allows the program to generate manufacturing files from a PCB file in seconds once the configuration has been established.

Jcad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Jcad use?

The Jcad is built around the STM32F405RGT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Jcad PCB?

The Jcad measures 50 × 50 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Jcad?

40 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Jcad design files?

From the xoviat/jcad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Jcad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with xoviat. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Jcad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
