About the Koe coin PCB

Koe coin is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by yukihamada, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 26 × 26 mm, with 24 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Cortex-A76 x4 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, PCIe, USB3, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 6 resistors, 5 ICs, 2 connectors, 1 switch and 1 LED.

It belongs with the audio, rf & radio and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

The Seed uses a single 28mm round PCB (nRF5340 + nRF21540) that fits in five different enclosures:

Additional ultra-thin option: Sticker (32mm, 6mm thick) — stick on phone, laptop, helmet.

Every Seed broadcasts an OpenHaystack-compatible BLE beacon in parallel with Auracast reception. This enables lost-item tracking via Apple's Find My network:

Koe coin: common questions

What microcontroller does the Koe coin use?

The Koe coin is built around the Cortex-A76 x4 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, PCIe, USB3, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Koe coin PCB?

The Koe coin measures 26 × 26 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.

How many components are on the Koe coin?

24 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Koe coin design files?

From the yukihamada/koe-device repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Koe coin design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which yukihamada chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Koe coin without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
