About the Mf3dre PCB

Mf3dre is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Zokhoi, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 136 × 135 mm, with 135 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TLC59461PWP, MC74HC165AD, MMA8453QR1, ZXCL330H5TA and ITG-3200. By type, the board carries 37 diodes, 28 switches, 27 capacitors, 25 resistors, 11 ICs and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

However, there are also some components that I am not very certain about, which I hope would be uncovered as time goes by. In specific, the list of items are: the model of the LEDs 4 white LEDs for bank buttons on top * 32 non-addressable RGB LEDs for arcade buttons

In an email exchange with DJTT, they have stated that the magnometer IST8308 has been replaced by accelerometer MMA8453Q, but both of these chips are present on my board. In addition, the circuitry around IST8308 (U11) does not seem to correspond to the application circuit given in its datasheet.

Mf3dre: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mf3dre use?

The Mf3dre is built around the ATmega32U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Mf3dre PCB?

The Mf3dre measures 136 × 135 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mf3dre?

135 components, from 37 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mf3dre design files?

From the Zokhoi/mf3dre repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mf3dre design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Zokhoi. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mf3dre without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
