About the Mgc m16a PCB

Mgc m16a is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by 0x007E, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 33 × 48.9 mm, with 44 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega16A-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74LVC4066 and 74AHC1G14. By type, the board carries 21 resistors, 12 capacitors, 5 connectors, 3 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

MeGARCard - ATMega16A Module

The ATmega16A (mgcmodule) is an adaptable board for the MeGARCard. The board offers the possibility to control the MeGARCard with an ATmega16A. The board itself is connected to the MeGARCard within the pcb-to-pcb connectors (no soldering necessary). With the onboard dip-switches the board voltage can be regulated from 3V3 to 5V. Also the usage of hardware-/software-twi` to control the SSD1306-display on the megacard can be selected.

Mgc m16a: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mgc m16a use?

The Mgc m16a is built around the ATmega16A-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Mgc m16a PCB?

The Mgc m16a measures 33 × 48.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mgc m16a?

44 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mgc m16a design files?

From the 0x007E/mgc_m16a repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mgc m16a design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Mgc m16a without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
