About the Vlt PCB
Vlt is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by 0x007E, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44.9 × 18.3 mm, with 48 components from 29 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ATtiny1604-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the FT232RL, AT24CM02-SSHM, RNG90, 74AHCT1G00 and 74AHCT1G86. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 13 capacitors, 7 ICs, 5 diodes, 3 switches and 1 transistor.
It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.
From the project
USB/UART Terminal Data Vault
The VLT is a board with an RNG90 and a TRNG based on a digital circuit. It is possible to generate random numbers and print them over UART. The board itself is driven with 5V over a USBC connector. The board itself can be programmed over USB and avr-dude (serialupdi). To programm the board over USB (UART) it is necessary to enable the UPDI programming function (over the onboard dip-switches).

Vlt: common questions
What microcontroller does the Vlt use?
The Vlt is built around the ATtiny1604-SS, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Vlt PCB?
The Vlt measures 44.9 × 18.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Vlt?
48 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Vlt design files?
From the 0x007E/vlt repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Vlt design in my own project?
It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
Can I test firmware for the Vlt without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
