About the Spookpad PCB

Spookpad is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by 101zh, published on GitHub under the MPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 80 mm, with 29 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 9 switches, 9 LEDs, 9 diodes and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

The case fits together using four M3 bolts and four M3 heatset inserts.\ The case is made of three separate printed pieces.\ The PCB just floats inside the 3D printed case. I would suggest that some insulation or some other material is placed inside, so that the PCB can be properly supported, instead of being supported by the…

Spookpad: common questions

What microcontroller does the Spookpad use?

The Spookpad is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Spookpad PCB?

The Spookpad measures 85 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Spookpad?

29 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Spookpad design files?

From the 101zh/spookpad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Spookpad design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MPL-2.0 license, which 101zh chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Spookpad without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
