An alarm clock using 9-segment numitron displays
This is a digital alarm clock that uses Soviet surplus IV-19 (ИВ-19) incandescent "numitron" displays.
The feature set is similar to that of my Panaplex clock:
- Six digit display (hours/minutes/seconds and month/day/year) - Powered from a 5V USB charger - Coin cell battery backup keeps time when unplugged - Highly accurate oscillator; keeps time within ±3 parts per million - Piezo beeper alarm - Automatic leap year correction up to 2099 - Automatic daylight saving time correction (US) up to 2099 - 4-level brightness control - Sleep mode: can be configured to keep the display blanked and…

Numitron-Clock: common questions
What microcontroller does the Numitron-Clock use?
The Numitron-Clock is built around the LPC811M001JDH16, from the NXP family.
How big is the Numitron-Clock PCB?
The Numitron-Clock measures 274.3 × 30.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Numitron-Clock?
39 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Numitron-Clock design files?
From the 74hc595/Numitron-Clock repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Numitron-Clock design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which 74hc595 chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Numitron-Clock without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
