About the ATtiny85-Breakout

ATtiny85-Breakout is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Abhi90808, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 35 × 30 mm, with 15 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny85, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP1700-3.3. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 4 connectors, 2 ICs, 2 resistors, 1 switch and 1 diode.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Minimal breakout board for the ATtiny85 microcontroller with USB programming support, decoupling capacitors, and accessible I/O pins.

A minimal breakout board for the ATtiny85 microcontroller designed in KiCad 8. Provides ICSP programming support, decoupling capacitors, and easy access to all I/O pins for compact embedded projects.

The ATtiny85 runs from its internal 8MHz oscillator. Programming is done via the 6-pin ICSP header using an Arduino as ISP or USBasp programmer. The Arduino IDE supports ATtiny85 via the ATTinyCore board package.

ATtiny85-Breakout: common questions

What microcontroller does the ATtiny85-Breakout use?

The ATtiny85-Breakout is built around the ATtiny85, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ATtiny85-Breakout?

The ATtiny85-Breakout measures 35 × 30 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ATtiny85-Breakout?

15 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ATtiny85-Breakout design files?

From the Abhi90808/ATtiny85-Breakout repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ATtiny85-Breakout design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Abhi90808. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ATtiny85-Breakout without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
