About the ElectronULA PCB

ElectronULA is an open source FPGA PCB design by adbsolutions, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 49 × 68.4 mm, with 88 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the 10M08SCE144C8G, from the FPGA family. Other key parts include the 74HCT125D, 74LVC4245APW, AP2114H-3.3TRG1 and ELECTRON_ULA_PGA_68. By type, the board carries 39 resistors, 31 capacitors, 10 ICs, 2 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 crystal.

From the project

Project to create replacement ULA board for Acorn Electron

The Core Carrier board is a board which requires the "EEpizza" board to be fitted. This is a board which actually contains the FPGA. The MAX 10 Board is a complete board with everything required to replace the Acorn Electron ULA on a single board.

V1.05 is the latest board design including a Micro SD Card socket and enables the use of MMFS for people without the extra Plus 1 hardware. Ensure the DIP switches are set correctly if connecting a Plus 1

ElectronULA: common questions

What microcontroller does the ElectronULA use?

The ElectronULA is built around the 10M08SCE144C8G, from the FPGA family.

How big is the ElectronULA PCB?

The ElectronULA measures 49 × 68.4 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ElectronULA?

88 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ElectronULA design files?

From the adbsolutions/ElectronULA repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ElectronULA design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which adbsolutions chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the ElectronULA without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug FPGA firmware against it before you order a PCB.
